Day 4th Fatima - Aljustrel
Buffet breakfast at the hotel
Depart for Aljustrel, the old village where the visionaries grew up. Some of their relatives are still living there and eager to welcome you into the former family homes of "The three little shepherds of Fatima".  At the bottom of the garden of Lucia's home is the well, where the "Angel of Peace", the "Angel of Portugal", appeared for the second time.  We'll visit Via Sacre where the Holy Way of the Cross is composed of 14 little chapels in memory of the Passion of Our Lord and a 15th corresponding to the Resurrection.  The first 14 Stations were offered by Catholic Hungarian refugees.  The Holy Way follows the path which the little shepherds took when going from Aljustrel to the Cova da Iria.

Along the way we will stop in the town of Alba de Tormes where St. Teresa died in the year 1582 and is buried. We'll continue on to Avila, home of two very holy and great saints: St. Theresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross.  Avila is an enchanting town to explore by day or night. Dinner and overnight in Avila.

Day 7th Avila

While in Avila we have time to walk the narrow cobblestone streets of the city as we trace the life of St. Teresa of Avila.   We will celebrate Mass in the beautiful chapel built over the former location of her home; see the garden where she played as a child, and the museum dedicated to her life.  We'll visit the Convent of the Incarnation where St. Teresa first took her orders and would remain based for more than thirty years; its museum has an interesting drawing of the crucifixion by her disciple, St. John of the Cross, and a reconstruction of the cell used by the saint when she was prioress there.
